2021 Reserve Lake County/Red Hills Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting notes – we sourced these grapes from the famous Beckstoffer vineyards in Lake County/Red Hills region, which borders Napa County. The grapes were picked at 2:00 am and owner J.J. Huber personally picked up the grapes in a truck at 6:00 am. He began the long 9-hour journey back to Laguna Beach to crush on site. The soil composition lends itself to a complex earthy bouquet which leads to ripe cherry and dark berry notes. A firm backbone of tannins rounds out the finish for a full-bodied mouthfeel.

Home prepared meals – this wine is not made as a social sipping wine and is intended as a complex dinner wine. I would pair this classic California Cabernet wine a marbled rib-eye steak. The tannins of this wine will not allow the fat of the steak to overpower your palate.
